Scottish Enterprise (through SE Glasgow), together with the National Trust for Scotland, commissioned S & A early in 2004 to undertake a benchmarking study for visitor attractions involving the study of 22 attractions, in six different countries, involving 14 different organisations in:

 Ireland
 Finland
 England
 USA
 France
 South Africa

The study highlights the importance of good management systems, the application of sound management principles and operating to a ‘balanced scorecard’. The full study will be available in Autumn 2004.
