Over the past 5 years S & A has developed a strong relationship with the City of Jyväskylä, the regional capital of Central Finland.

Our involvement began in 1995 with the organisation of an International Heritage Summer School developed in association with the Aalvar Alto Museum and the City's University. This summer school was repeated following a successful S & A bid on behalf of the City for EU Funding. Subsequently, S & A has been engaged by the City's Art Gallery, Dr. Marketta Makenin, to prepare a strategy for funding of the new Jyväskylä Arts Complex. In addition, we have also completed a scoping study for a new Motor Rallying Centre for the City. Jyväskylä is the home of the annual 1000 Lakes Rally, as well as the location for the ground breaking 'Hippa' Corporate Village for this Nestle sponsored event. In 1999, Dr. Terry Stevens was one of the keynote speakers at the Polytechnic of Jyväskylä's Tourism Industry and Education Symposium. This was organised in association with Bournemouth University's International Tourism Research Centre (www.bournemouth.ac.uk), and the proceedings have been published by the Polytechnic (www.jypoli.fi) In the past month, S & A has reaffirmed its links with Jyväskylä Polytechnic in a partnership venture with our Polish partners, MATRIK (www.matrik.pl) of Kraków in an application for LEONARDO funding for a rural tourism training programme.
